HAGERSTOWN, MD (September 6, 2012) – Barbara Ingram School for the Arts will offer and host the Center for Artistically Talented Students (C.A.T.S.) program for 8th grade students in Washington County on four Saturdays in October and November. Students with an interest in the visual and performing arts are invited to submit an application of interest to participate. The program will be presented with specific areas of focus in dance, vocal music, instrumental music, theater arts and visual arts. Students who apply must select a primary area of interest for the four-week session.
Sessions are scheduled on Saturdays from 9 a.m. – noon, on October 13 and 27, and November 3 and 10, at Barbara Ingram School for the Arts on South Potomac Street in Hagerstown. Students selected to participate will be expected to attend all four sessions. Student enrollment in each area, except instrumental music, will be limited to 20 students. Instrumental music students will be selected from the six instrumental groups to promote a balanced ensemble. If the number of applicants exceeds enrollments in the other areas, a lottery system will be used to select the participating students. There is no charge for the C.A.T.S. program. Parents or guardians must provide transportation to and from the sessions.
