Williamsport High School SGA Raising Funds for Two Projects
HAGERSTOWN, MD (January 28, 2010) – The Student Government Association (SGA) at Williamsport High School is seeking school and community contributions to a pair of projects. SGA members this week have been collecting contributions on behalf of Faith, a 12-week-old German shepherd puppy with a heart condition, who was dropped off at the Little Wonders Animal Rescue shelter in Clear Spring. Without surgery in the near future, her life expectancy is less than a year. Faith and a handler, accompanied by SGA representatives, visited each classroom this week so that students and staff could learn her story. A container for donations was set up in the cafeteria all week. In addition, on Friday, January 29, 2010, the SGA is sponsoring a “hat day,” when students who have paid a dollar toward Faith’s fundraising project, will be able to wear a hat in school that day.
During the week of February 1 – 5, 2010, the SGA will be selling orders of carnations during lunch. The flowers will be delivered to specified students on Friday, February 12, 2010, just before Valentine’s Day that weekend. All proceeds from the carnation sale will be donated to the Red Cross to assist in the humanitarian effort in Haiti.
Community contributions are welcome to the SGA projects and can be made by contacting Williamsport High School at 301-766-8423.
