HAGERSTOWN, MD (September 12, 2003) - Several Maryland state legislators will visit Washington County Public Schools as part of America’s Legislators Back-to-School Program, sponsored by the National Council of State Legislatures during the week of September 15th, 2003. On Tuesday, September 16th, Washington County Delegate Chris Shank will tour and talk with staff and students at Boonsboro Elementary School, Boonsboro Middle School and Boonsboro High School. Delegate Leroy Myers, representing Washington and Allegany Counties, will be visiting Hancock Middle/Senior High School and Clear Spring High School on Tuesday, Conococheague Elementary School on Wednesday the 17th and Antietam Academy on Friday the 19th. Also on Friday, Delegate Rick Weldon will speak at Pleasant Valley Elementary School. Weldon represents Frederick and Washington Counties. Maryland ranked in the top ten in participation in last year’s event and state legislative leaders urged General Assembly members to schedule time to visit schools in their districts this year.
