HAGERSTOWN, MD (July 18, 2006) – The five-member Clear Spring High School Envirothon team will compete with more than 50 other teams from across the United States and Canada at the 2006 Canon Envirothon, July 23 – 29, 2006, at the University of Manitoba/Winnipeg, in Winnipeg, Manitoba, Canada. Team members Rebecca Funk, Sondra Lavigne, Amy Ridenour, Derek Haines and Adam Reid won the Maryland Envirothon at the William Schmidt Outdoor Education Center in Brandywine last month.

The competition challenges students’ knowledge and training in a number of natural resources areas, comprised of soils, aquatics, forestry and wildlife. Each team must also address a designated special environmental issue, and their work will be judged by specialists in various environmental fields.

The team will be accompanied by teacher/advisors Susan Lowery and Terrie Shank.
