Northern Middle Students Lead Effort to Help Family of Fellow Students

HAGERSTOWN, MD (June 9, 2006) – Northern Middle School students and staff have rallied around the Carvajal family, raising financial support for the family after an accident in early May claimed the life of Reyli Carvajal, and resulted in the hospitalization of Maria Carvajal and two sons, Roy and Ray, who just completed the 8th grade year at Northern Middle. The boys remain hospitalized, but their mother has been released.

Students solicited donations for the family in exchange for ribbons, and established collection boxes during the school day, and during school events such as a concert and the 8th Grade Awards Ceremony. Collections total approximately $800 and Northern Middle will continue to accept donations for the Carvajal family, and will forward all contributions directly to the family.
