HAGERSTOWN, MD (May 16, 2005) – Western Heights Middle School Character Counts is completing a final school-wide project for all students, celebrating Armed Forces Day, which is Saturday, May 21, 2005. Students have created cards with artwork and messages for the servicemen and women in various hospitals, or who are part of veterans’ organizations in the area. The front cover of each card was designed by Character Counts staff at Western Heights, and the students were asked to write a message and draw a picture or symbol to represent their thoughts. The greetings included, “We honor you,” and “Thank you for protecting us.” The American Red Cross will deliver the cards.
