HAGERSTOWN, MD (May 15, 2006) – The annual Elementary Principal’s Citizenship Award Program will be held Thursday, May 25, 2006, at 7:00 p.m. at North Hagerstown High School. Fifth grade elementary students from across Washington County will be recognized for outstanding citizenship. Students receive certificates and plaques. Following the awards ceremony, students and their families will be honored at a reception in the cafeteria. School Board president Mr. W. Edward Forrest and Dr. Elizabeth Morgan, Superintendent will be on hand to congratulate the students during the awards ceremony. Selection criteria that each student must demonstrate for the Principal’s Citizenship Award include the following: pride and respect toward students and adults; pride and respect toward the school, its rules, and property; participation in class discussions and school activities; maximum effort to do well academically. A committee from the Washington County Association of Elementary School Administrators organizes the awards program each year. This year’s event is sponsored by Hamilton Nissan with pictures provided through Larry Allen & Co.
