2006 Academic Team Championship

HAGERSTOWN, MD (March 23, 2006) – The 10th Annual Academic Team Championship will be held at Hagerstown Community College’s Kepler Theater on Saturday, March 25, 2006, at 9:00 a.m. Three preliminary rounds featuring teams of students from each WCPS high school, will lead to the championship round, where the winning teams from each preliminary round will vie for the championship. The fast-paced “It’s Academic” format produces an exciting competition.

Round 1:

• Clear Spring High School
• Washington County Technical High School
• North Hagerstown High School

Round 2:

• Boonsboro High School
• Smithsburg High School (Team 1)
• Hancock High School

Round 3:

• South Hagerstown High School
• Williamsport High School
• Smithsburg High School (Team 2)

A second Smithsburg team is in the competition by random draw in order to ensure that three teams participate in each preliminary round. Hagerstown Trust Company is providing scholarship awards to the winners and runners up in each preliminary round, and to each participating school in the championship round, a total of $3,600. Also the Hagerstown Community College Foundation, Inc. is awarding a $500 scholarship to the top-scoring non-finalist.
