Eastern Aids Tsunami Victims

HAGERSTOWN, MD (March 17, 2005) – Students in Danielle Greenwald’s 5th grade class at Eastern Elementary School, after reading and seeing accounts of the Southeast Asian tsunami and its impact, coordinated a fundraising effort with proceeds earmarked for children who lost homes and families. Class members distributed collection containers to each classroom and sent a letter home with every student, asking for help. 5th grade students collected all donations and reported a final total that surpassed $1,200.
