FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE |
HAGERSTOWN, MD (February 7, 2003) – This week, seniors in the Visual Communications class at Washington County Technical High School worked with teachers and community representatives to stage a special commemorative Civil War display in the three windows of the Frostburg State University Center in downtown Hagerstown. “ The kids did a beautiful job,” said Lee Weaver, Supervisor of Fine Arts and Technology Education, “and they completed it in five days, just in time for the Gods and Generals gala on February 11.” The students worked under the direction of Visual Communications teacher Susan Fries. Printing and Graphics teacher Jim Groves and Cosmetology teacher Marie Bikle provided additional support. Tom Clemens and Mimi and Kevin Rawlings contributed reproductions of Civil War clothing and equipment. “The display would not have been possible without their generous loan of their artifacts,” said Mr. Weaver. In addition, Ambassador Flag Company of Martinsburg provided flags and buntings for the display, and Old Navy loaned dress forms. |
