Title I School Choice Option for Bester and Winter Street Students
The following letter was sent to parents of Bester Elementary School and Winter Street Elementary School students in July 2011:
While the students at Bester and Winter Street Elementary made progress this year, the schools did not make Adequate Yearly Progress (AYP).
This year these students are being offered a choice. Your child may remain at Bester and Winter Street Elementary, where we are working hard to help all children reach standard, or you may choose to send your child to a neighboring school-Rockland Woods or Potomac Heights. If you choose either of these schools, transportation will be provided.
Parent meetings have been planned at Bester on Tuesday, July 26, 2011 and Winter Street on Wednesday, July 27, 2011. The meetings will be held at the schools and will begin at 6:30 p.m. A Spanish interpreter will also be available at these meetings.
