Currently, the Washington County Public Schools offers four elementary magnet programs for gifted and talented students in grades 2-5. The magnet programs have been strategically located to serve families and children throughout Washington County at Fountaindale School for Arts and Academic Excellence, Boonsboro Elementary School, Williamsport Elementary School, and Emma K. Doub Elementary School for Integrated Arts and Technology.
Middle school programs have been established at Boonsboro, E. Russell Hicks, and Springfield middle schools.
Application for participation in WCPS Magnet Programs is open to all families in Washington County. Parents/guardians living outside of the Magnet School attendance areas must provide transportation. Selection is based upon a comprehensive review of multiple sources of information, including a student interview, academic performance, observation, assessments, and parent questionnaire.
Answers to frequently asked questions are available as Downloadable Resources on this page.
