WCPS Superintendent of Schools, Dr. Betty Morgan is one of four finalists for national honors as Superintendent of the Year. Dr. Morgan was announced as Maryland Superintendent of the Year in October, based on voting by the other school superintendents in Maryland and past honorees.

Nominations have been accepted for the 2011 Washington County Teacher of the Year. The Teacher of the Year program is a partnership between the Washington County Public Schools and the Hagerstown/Washington County Chamber of Commerce Foundation, designed to honor well deserving educators across the county. The Teacher of the Year Recognition Dinner is April 28, 2010.

The 2010-2011 school year begins on Wednesday, August 18, 2010. Labor Day is September 6, a day that schools and offices are closed. An early dismissal is scheduled on Friday, October 29, and students are off Monday and Tuesday, November 1 and 2.

The 2010 list of America's best high schools, compiled by U.S. News & World Report, includes four WCPS high schools: Clear Spring, Hancock Middle/Senior, North Hagerstown and South Hagerstown. They are among only 15 medal winners in Maryland.

| 2010 Teacher Recruitment Fair on March 5 at Rockland Woods
The WCPS Teacher Recruitment Fair is scheduled on Friday, March 5, 2010, from 2 - 5 p.m., at Rockland Woods Elementary School. The registration deadline is Friday, February 26, 2010.
