Dr. Morgan Named 2010 National Superintendent of the Year
WCPS Superintendent of Schools, Dr. Betty Morgan has been named the 2010 National Superintendent of the Year. Dr. Morgan was saluted by legislators in Annapolis on, Wednesday, February 17, 2010.
Teacher of the Year Process Continues
Nominations have been accepted for the 2011 Washington County Teacher of the Year. The Teacher of the Year program is a partnership between the Washington County Public Schools and the Hagerstown/Washington County Chamber of Commerce Foundation, designed to honor well deserving educators across the county. The Teacher of the Year Recognition Dinner is April 28, 2010.

Greenbrier Elementary 5th Grader Places First in Statewide Poster Contest
Dia Daughtridge of Greenbrier Elementary School has been named a first place winner in the statewide Take 15 for Physical Activity Poster Contest, open to all third through fifth graders in Maryland. The contest kicked off in the fall of 2009. Each first place winner was honored before the Maryland State Board of Education on Tuesday, February 23, 2010. Dia is pictured with State Superintendent of Schools, Dr. Nancy Grasmick.
BOE Votes on Redistricting Recommendations
The Washington County Board of Education voted on redistricting recommendations at the January 19 and February 2, 2010 business meetings. A summary of each recommendation is now available.
