Dr. Morgan Named Finalist for National Superintendent of the Year

WCPS Superintendent of Schools, Dr. Betty Morgan is one of four finalists for national honors as Superintendent of the Year.  Dr. Morgan was announced as Maryland Superintendent of the Year in October, based on voting by the other school superintendents in Maryland and past honorees.

Teacher of the Year Process Continues

Nominations have been accepted for the 2011 Washington County Teacher of the Year.  The Teacher of the Year program is a partnership between the Washington County Public Schools and the Hagerstown/Washington County Chamber of Commerce Foundation, designed to honor well deserving educators across the county.  The Teacher of the Year Recognition Dinner is April 28, 2010. 

The 2010-2011 School Calendar is Available for Your Information and Planning

The 2010-2011 school year begins on Wednesday, August 18, 2010.  Labor Day is September 6, a day that schools and offices are closed.  An early dismissal is scheduled on Friday, October 29, and students are off Monday and Tuesday, November 1 and 2.

U.S. News & World Report Salutes WCPS High Schools Again

The 2010 list of America's best high schools, compiled by U.S. News & World Report, includes four WCPS high schools: Clear Spring, Hancock Middle/Senior, North Hagerstown and South Hagerstown.  They are among only 15 medal winners in Maryland.

BOE Votes on Redistricting Recommendations

The Washington County Board of Education voted on redistricting recommendations at the January 19, 2010 business meeting.  A summary of each recommendation is now available.
